The result of the move request was: Moved to Banks Association of Turkey. Move has consensus, but No such user comment about WP:THE seems valid so omitting "The". (non-admin closure)  — Amakuru (talk) 16:22, 25 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Turkish Banks AssociationThe Banks Association of Turkey – This is used in offical website. Also, this is the exact translation of Turkish name. Joseph (talk) 18:18, 17 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment - Google hits are even 90 vs. 90. I'm neutral on this one. Meatsgains (talk) 02:13, 19 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Support, but prefer Banks Association of Turkey. If the hits are even, we should go with the official translation. (Most English sources lowercase "the", so WP:THE comes into play, despite being a part of the association logo). No such user (talk) 11:20, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Association changed it's name in english to the Banks Association of Türkiye, instead of The Banks Association of Turkey. Page title should be The Banks Association of Türkiye. Gulerc (talk) 16:04, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's not how Wikipedia works. We use the common name, not necessarily the official name — so to get this changed from "Turkey" to "Türkiye" in Wikipedia, the organization's own internal usage has nothing to do with anything, and what would need to be shown is evidence that media refer to it that way when covering its activities third-party.
Also, you absolutely must not mess around with categories. Articles cannot be left sitting in redlinked categories that do not exist, and any category where you want a rename must be put through a full WP:CFR discussion — but until the CFR process does move the category you must leave the category at the spelling where it is, because redlinked categories are strictly forbidden.
Thirdly, the above discussion is closed and cannot be edited. If you want this page changed, you must start a new discussion from scratch.
We're not opposed to making changes when they're justified, but there are rules you need to follow to make them properly without disrupting other things. So, again, you can get this changed by following the rules, and not by breaking them. Bearcat (talk) 13:51, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
