Banc de Binary is a retail binary options dealer.

History

edit

Banc de Binary was founded in 2009 by Oren Laurent. The idea came about after 2007 proposed rule changes made by the Options Clearing Corporation. The rule changes paved the way for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to allow binary options to be traded on major markets beginning in 2008.[3] The company originally employed four people but claims that it now has over 250 employees in offices worldwide.[4]

Trading platform

edit

The trading platform for Banc de Binary is SpotOption, a company that was also co-founded by Banc de Binary co-founder Oren Laurent.[3] The platform allows members to trade binary options by selecting the preferred stock, currency pair, index or commodity that they wish to trade. They then choose the amount they wish to invest and click “apply” to execute the trade. The platform also has an option builder which allows customers to select their own asset, expiry time, return rate and investment amount.[5] The company also offers a mobile trading application.[6]

Investor advisories

edit
  • Banc de Binary is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau, where it is rated "F" for failure to respond to customer complaints. It has a BBB file that was opened in 2010.[7]
  • It appears on the Securities and Exchange Commission's "List of Unregistered Soliciting Entities That Have Been the Subject of Investor Complaints".[8]
  • It is listed on the Ontario Securities Commission's Investors Warning List of "companies that appear to be engaging in activities that may pose a risk to investors".[9]

Regulation

edit

In 2013, Banc de Binary became one of the first binary options companies to be licensed by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission.[10] It was the second trading firm licensed by CySec after Spot Option, and the first standalone binary option broker to be licensed.[11]

Awards

edit

Banc de Binary was listed on the 2012 World Finance 100 Award of 100 companies based on reader votes.[12][13]
