The elements of ladies' white tie attire

This section probably ought to be under White tie rather than here. But first, something I noticed:

"A watch is not considered de rigueur except for jewelled versions in which the face is covered so that it resembles a bracelet."

The only sense I can make of this is that, if you have a watch of this kind, you must wear it. Is this really was meant? -- Smjg 22:14, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

No, what was meant was, "You must not wear a watch with a ballgown. The one exception is that if you have a watch that looks like a bracelet (i.e. the face over the watch is covered, as with a jewelled flap, you may wear it without being thought a peasant." Quill 00:11, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Non-general POV, lead section should be ammended

"is the most formal female attire for social occasions"

Where? When? Not the entire world shares the same aesthethics, so this is a badly written lead. 201.190.18.117 (talk) 19:34, 25 October 2016 (UTC)
