Top Read? edit

Why is this the 2nd top read page today? I can find no significant recent news when searching the brand nor find any recent update here to suggest why. Thanks! 2600:8805:9100:418:49E0:FD75:F92C:4BB4 (talk) 17:51, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can it really be described as a stack as it's not next to a coastline?--JBellis 14:41, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Age edit

I've reverted what appears to be repeated creationist vandalism by one user. [1]

JGabbard felt that the approximately several-million-years age of Balls Pyramid was not only unsourced but "unprovable", and after an anonIP contributor provided a highly suitable source (a vetted supplement to a published textbook, accompanied by scholarly citations and explicitly stating "Potassium-argon dating indicates [Balls Pyramid] is similar, or slightly younger in age, than [nearby mountains] which have been potassium-argon dated to 6.4 Ma.", by a coastal geomorphologist with specific expertise regarding the Australian coast and who holds a top-level academic position), JGabbard claimed that this source contained "no support" for the article's statement that BP "formed about 6.4 million years ago" and instead altered the lead to say "Ball's Pyramid is an erosional remnant of unknown age". JGabbard's page proclaims both his general adherence to Seventh Day Adventism (a young-earth creationist denomination of the Christian religion) and specifically his associated belief in intelligent-design creationism, as well as his non-inclusive attitude (via the banner that he "believes atheism is harmful to society").

I could easily give more sources on how we know the age of Balls Pyramid. Cesiumfrog (talk) 04:13, 29 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Semi-Protection? edit

How about some semi-protection to prevent vandalism like the passage above me where it stated where it was and how it was made. 24.2.133.105 (talk) 21:50, 22 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Area? edit

What is the total area of Ball's Pyramid? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:3036:E2C0:B970:55D3:93DA:9EE1 (talk) 18:18, 5 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Ratzer, Shiftchange, and Ypna: I also want to know what the total area (sq km) of Ball's Pyramid is so I can compare it to other islands. I can't seem to find the sq km area online. Geographyinitiative (talk) 01:53, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

It seems awkward to discuss area of an island that is taller than it is wide.
If you can't google up a source, you could use QGIS (and download a coastline map) to calculate the area of different islands. Cesiumfrog (talk) 11:00, 13 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
