Baddesley Clinton in BBC's Gunpowder

Despite the caption on the screen, the building shown was not Baddesley Clinton, nor was the interior. Their social media team confirmed this on Twitter. There are links now to several articles about the actual filming sites, but none match the exterior. If anyone finds where that was (and it looks nothing like the place), do please add it to the text. --gobears87 (talk) 18:03, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

The outdoor scene captioned as Baddesley Clinton was actually Fountains Hall, on the same NT site as Fountains Abbey. I've updated the article. -- DeFacto (talk). 18:54, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

If anyone wants to update the page and add more about the links with the Gunpowder Plot (mostly indirect) that would be great. I've not got time to do it. Here is a bit from the NT page and link plus a couple of helpful links for anyone wanting to have a go:

I think the point was that Anne Vaux lived at Baddesley and features in the tv series and has links to the plotters. Not sure how important he is - other than it says he was investigated? --gobears87 (talk) 21:47, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Elizabeth, Edward's wife, was the prime protector for John Gerard , but she was at Harrowden. So I guessing that Anne was related in some way. But I can find no mention of a sister. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:02, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

It seems the sisters at Baddelsey were Eliza and Elizabeth: [1]. So perhaps just another branch of the Catholic Vaux family. Baddesley is about 75 miles from Harrowden. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:36, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm sure I read it somewhere legitimate (about Anne renting BC) but can't put my finger on it (might have been in something at the house, I last visited in Sept.). However there are a few blogs that confirm. But obviously the "Eliza" is an error. It was Eleanor, presumably.

No problem, I'm a historian by profession so like to be sure of references etc. I'll just a dd one more thing: I noticed Eleanor has a DNB entry too and while Anne's doesn't mention Baddesley, Eleanor's does! Haha, well that's very good. The family link to Elizabeth at Harrowden, the daughter of their step-nephew, is a bit distant.
