Talk:BMW HP2 Enduro

Wrong name?

edit

I don't think calling the article "BMW HP2 Enduro" is correct. The bike was launched as simply the BMW HP2. The two subsequent bikes were called HP2 Megamoto and HP2 Sport, but the first HP2 never had a suffix. --Biker Biker (talk) 08:33, 2 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The BMW press release that announces discontinuation calls it the HP2 Enduro. Maybe the name changed between launch and end of the line? — Brianhe (talk) 03:15, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Possibly. At launch BMW said in their press releases "BMW Motorrad is proudly introducing an uncompromising, sporting and light enduro - the new BMW HP2". In the press release for the launch of the Megamoto they said "BMW Motorrad is proudly presenting the new Megamoto: Based on the BMW HP2 Enduro, this unique motorcycle ....". So yes, I suspect the name was changed later to distinguish from the other models. I'm happy to let it stand. --Biker Biker (talk) 09:37, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
This article conflates production of the HP2/E w/ other HP2 models. Somewhere around 500 HP2 Enduros were built in 2006 and they weren't offered in subsequent years. You could still buy an HP2(E) a year or two later still in the crate having never been opened since originally rec'd in 2006. Which is exactly what I did. 24.237.73.219 (talk) 03:00, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
