Steroids edit

erythropoetin is not a steroid, the article needs to be corrected.

Now corrected. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)WIKIPROJECT ATHLETICS NEEDS YOU! 00:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The segment about Lance Armstrong looks peculiar and malicious. I edited out parts that seemed like vandalism (I checked the Livestrong Foundation's page and OJ Simpson isn't part of it). I don't know enough about the topic to edit more. ~Reedcharles.

Unusual content, possibly malicious & self-promoting edit

In 'Media coverage of scandal', I noticed bits such as this: "... Victor Conte. He was aspiring musician (and hippie, and alleged drug dealer), but those dreams were quickly dashed..." This seems ungrammatical, and contains the unreferenced statement that Conte is an alleged drug dealer (or aspired to become a hippie musician who allegedly deals drugs?)

Also of interest is this block: "From there, the book goes on to name the many athletes who received the drugs, and the writers go into great detail describing their thoughts on Barry Bonds. They believed that Bonds was a superior athlete, but was jealous of all the attention that Mark McGwire received in his record-breaking season of 1998. Bonds was jealous, they hypothesized, because McGwire was a suspected "juicer" and the Giants’ slugger wanted to prove that he could compete on a level equal to or exceeding that of McGwire."

The first piece seems to be irrelevant/malicious. The second seems similar, and contains unsubstantiated speculation. The writing style of the whole section seems strange and out of place. Combined with the lack of sources, this suggests it may have been written by/for someone with personal interests in the events.

I'm not a regular editor so I don't know if this is actually a policy violation, but it strikes me as something not consistent with general Wikipedia standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.210.11.120 (talk) 21:16, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Just checked the history, it looks like this section was included in the original creation of the page (assuming I read it correctly) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.210.11.120 (talk) 21:22, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
