Lecrae feature

edit

User:1Sire has challenged that the remixed single "Round of Applause (Remix)", on which B.o.B. features, is not a single. I refute this for the following reasons: 1. If it is not a single, then what is it? It is a single song which is not a deep album track or a b-side. By definition, this would make it a single. It's either a deep album track, a b-side, or a single, those are the only options. 2. The original song, "Round of Applause", was also a single, if that matters. 3. User:1Sire says that it has not been released to radio or on iTunes. These are not the only mediums for release, and besides, how does this disqualify it as a single according to point 1? Whether it gets airplay or not, it still is a single (I'm assuming that 1Sire is disqualifying internet radio, which is unfair). 4. User:1Sire charged that my sources (Rapzilla and HipHopDX do not prove that it is an official release. Technically, that is true. I provided the sources to prove notability, not that it was official. But it is an official release, as you can find it on the Reach Records SoundCloud site. Lecrae also discussed it in an interview with BET at the 4:08 min. mark. 5. If User:1Sire is concerned about notability, the Rapzilla and HipHopDX sources should demonstrate that, but there also are the following: Hot 97 FM, 2DopeBoyz, illHype, HipHop-n-More, Xclusives Zone.net, AllHipHop, About.com, and HipHop Vibe. 6. Of the above sources sources, HipHop-n-More (part of Vibe's online network) and HipHop Vibe (not sure how notable this site is, but reliability is the issue here) both call the song a single, so that should clear up any lingering issues with categorization.--¿3family6 contribs 00:40, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's a remix, if anything it's a promotional release, which means it would go in the promotional singles section, but I wouldn't even call it that, it's just two artists collaborating on a remix of a single, which is very common in hip hop music. If you look at B.o.B's discograpy, most of his remix appearances are under guest appearances, because they're not singles. Also none of those links call it a single, Lecrae didn't say "that's my new single with B.o.B", the song isn't even available for download, let alone purchase.--User: 1Sire talk 04:11, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Okay, looking at the 50 Cent discography page (there is no featured hip-hop discog list, so good is the best we have), it appears you're right. Personally, I think that remixed singles (not albums) should go either in the singles section or in a sub-section like "remixed singles," but I will not fight you there. I rest my case.--¿3family6 contribs 12:43, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
