Still In Business? edit

I put this in discussion as I haven't verified. The article talks of Avalon Books as if the company were no more, but there is still an Avalon Books, see http://avalonbooks.com/. The parent company name, Thomas Bouregy & Co. Inc., is what I remember for the science fiction imprint. It would appear that the company still exists and simply ceased to publish the science fiction titles. Cdixon (talk) 15:40, 19 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is correct. Further, Avalon was purchased by Amazon.com June 2012.[1] -- Green Cardamom (talk) 05:53, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Edited Reprints edit

In collector circles, the science fiction reprints of the 1960s were said to be heavily edited from the original appearances. An example is Otis Adelbert Kline's Mars titles, which have recently been reprinted from the original pulps. It was said that Avalon had a tight format of so many pages and would cut out text until they reached the proper word count. If this can be independently verified, it should be incorporated in the text as a warning to readers and ebook publishers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.157.57.241 (talk) 04:09, 30 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
