Merge with Self-insertion or reference out to it?

I realize this is still itself a stub, but should this not possibly be merged with self-insertion? A cursory glance suggests to me that they both happen to cover the same subject, just under two different names. "Self-insertion" is used much, much more often in the fan fiction community, so I would suggest saying "the phenomenon exists in the fan fiction community as well, where it is usually referred to as self-insertion." Insertion of another Author

Some authors, for reasons of rivalry or as an in-joke, insert characters based on their contemporary authors into a work. An example occurs in H.P. Lovecraft's The Haunter of the Dark in which Robert Blake (intended to represent Robert Bloch, a corresponding author) appears. This was itself a response to Bloch's story The Shambler from the Stars, in which a Lovecraft-parody appears; in both cases the character is killed by a monster from the author's imagination! However, I don't know what the term for this form of insertion would be, since it is obviously not SELF-insertion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.31.61.222 (talk) 22:56, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
