The format is not compatible with the EU requirements as the cover page is not using the country language(s). English is not an official language in Austria. Same applies to the Polish passport BTW. Stupid, IMO, as everybody would recognize the document as a passport anyway, regardless if understanding "REISEPASS" as "PASSPORT" or not while disturbing the esthetic appeal of the passport.
Pre-travel Internet Registration for US?
editThe map indicates that pre-travel Internet registration is required for visiting the United States. Is this accurate? My in-laws are all Austrian and have never had to do this. Sperrfeuer (talk) 15:06, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Corrected translation of "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH"
editIt was originally given as "REPUBLIC AUSTRIA". This is incorrect as German does not use a preposition in place names that include the jurisdiction, unlike for example English in which we say "State of California" or "City of Los Angeles". "REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH" is almost always translated as REPUBLIC OF AUSTRIA (and so with "Stadt Wien" ("City of Vienna"), etc.Pithecanthropus (talk) 22:32, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Picture contradicts article
editThe article text states that the passport contains both the words "Reisepass" and "Passport" on the front cover. The passport pictured only contains the word "Reisepass". The information given is also unsourced. Is this an error? This refers to the previous version of the passport. It is obsolete now, I have deleted the reference.78.114.72.140 (talk) 17:20, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yup, the images look different from the current passports shown here. I've updated the captions to make this clear. Jpatokal (talk) 02:30, 23 July 2014 (UTC)
