Question

Where do players play before they are drafted? Does Australia have university football, like America? -- Mwalcoff (talk) 04:09, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Eligibility

The articles about the AFL darft and the Rookie List only mention eligibility in terms of age. Where do the players come from? Do they come from district competitions? state competitions? Are they all amateur players or can be semi-professional players? Do they have to be in senior competitions, or could a really good U18 be selected in the pre-season draft. And how does a player get to be on a 'draft list?'. Do players have to nominate themselves for an actual list, or is anybody who plays in a more junior competition automatically eligible to be drafted? I've tried reading the articles to understand how it works but I don't think the articles explain the eligibility aspect of it very well. Disorganised

This is an extremely disorganised topic. The core thread is hard to find: history is irrelevant to someone seeking to find out how the current system works, sure history typically comes first, but it should lead into the main info; then there are sections without real structure...ie the overall system has a main draft but there are special provisions for father and son and for rookies, yet these are give equality with main draft and even precede it. The comment on success of no 1 draftees is a single piece of analysis and as analysis should come later in a separate section where more analysis might be justified

It needs a complete rework.
