Completed projects: edit

When a project is completed, there is no need to list it because there are always newer and more exciting projects that come-up after that. It just uses up nearly twice as much space and that newer and more projects to come in the near future need to be listed in AUSLINK. The Albury Bypass opened on the Monday 5th March 2007 [1]. There is no need to list the Albury bypass now on the AUSLINK page. It is replaced in the AUSLINK list by an exciting 4-lane northbound road, that has started on the M5 Motorway near Ingleburn in Campbelltown [2]. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.168.1.97 (talk) 04:29, 6 March 2007 (UTC).Reply

I think all of the AusLink major projects should be included. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not just about current events. If projects will not be interesting in ten years time, they shouldn't be listed now, either. See m:Wiki is not paper and WP:NOT#PAPER for more details. --Scott Davis Talk 09:33, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
  • I think that it would be more appropriate to separate the projects that were completed under auslink into a "finished" section but I agree that they should remain in the article. With AusLink 2 coming soon (the next round of 5 years of projects), the article should probably have some re-structuring or just re-wording of the statement at the top of the list that implicitly restricts it to the projects with completion dates specified in AusLink. There are projects such as the F3-to-Branxton link road (see Sydney-Newcastle Freeway) which have partial funding starting during the current AusLink period but not being completed until during AusLink 2. These don't currently fit on the list but I think that they should. --Athol Mullen 22:59, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Further information section edit

I have commented this out for the time being. It isa collection of links and does not relate to the narrative. I have no difficulty with the links if they were references for the text content but I think they add nothing to an encyclopaedia entry in their current form.

Could I also please put in a bid that web citations be in the form:

{{cite web  | last =   | first =   | authorlink =   | coauthors =   | year =
 | url =   | title =
 | format =  | work =  | publisher =  | accessdate = }}

Required parameters

  • url: URL of online item.
  • title: Title of online item.
  • date: Date (Month Day) when item was accessed. May be ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format.
    • year: Year when item was accessed. (Optional if ISO 8601 date used)

Optional parameters

  • author: Author
  • publishyear: Date published.
  • format: Format, i.e. PDF. HTTP implied if not specified.
  • work: If this item is part of a larger work, name of that work.
  • publisher: Publisher, if any.

and news references in the form:

{{cite news   | first=  | last=  | author=
  | url=
  | title=
  | work=   | publisher=  | pages=  | page=  | date=  | accessdate= }}
  • title is required, rest is optional.
  • author: Author
    • last works with first to produce last, first
  • publisher: Publisher, if any.
  • accessdate: Date when item was accessed. Use ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format.
  • work: If this item is part of a larger work, name of that work.
  • pages overrides page

Cleanup edit

Hi, just a quick explanation of the reasoning behind the cleanup:

  • History: removing text based on dead links, renaming section Legislative Framework to suit revised content
  • National Network: removing unreferenced section
  • Road Funding: tidying formatting, updating and removing projects not built
