Taxonomy of Atlantosaurus edit

This page requires a Taxobox. Atlantosaurus montanus (Marsh, 1877) [originally "Titanosaurus"] is the type (and only) species. This animal is a diplodocid sauropod dinosaur, and was originally named "Titanosaurus" before its discoverer changed it to Atlantosaurus to note that Titanosaurus was already used for a titanosaur (Titanosaurus Lydekker, 1877). Since Atlantosaurus is a monotypic yet dubious genus, given the information above, it is not chimeric and should be removed from the category "Invalid dinosaurs". 72.194.116.63 00:25, 29 March 2007 (UTC) Vahe Demirjian 16.25 28 March 2007Reply

You're right--this is a nomen dubium, not a JSS of either of the genera listed in the article. I'll fix it up a bit. Dinoguy2 02:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Another species? edit

I have a personal record of another species, A. immanus. Can anyone else verify this?Ninjatacoshell 18:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

A. immanus is considered a synonym of Apatosaurus ajax. ArthurWeasley 20:11, 12 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
