Terminology

edit

Was this in fact a "review", as presently asserted, or a "revue"? 86.136.215.124 22:55, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Although this is old hat by now and has probably been modified already, just to set your mind at rest: both the Oxford Revue and the Cambridge Footlights, two contemporary British institutions use the term revue. Regs., --Technopat 07:14, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Lord Chamberlain's requirements?

edit

The reference to this page (which is almost certainly wrong) is wrong. The title of the song is recorded as "The Lord Chamberlain's Regulations" and that is how they are referred to in theatrical works etc see this reference. Unless anyone objects I will change the note and break the link. Francis Davey (talk) 16:16, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Greetings Francis Davey, Agreed that it does seem wrong - the link to Google books you provide is clear on that. But it might also be in keeping with F&S to make an indirect reference to the "Regulations" using the term "Requirements", in which case it could be included thus. I haven't come across the reference of the song being recorded under the title you refer to, but if such is the case, there can surely be no doubt. As for the wikilinked article, that should be changed whatever the F&S version may be. If you have time, go ahead, if not, I'll try to get round to it. Meanwhile, it would be good to know if anyone else has direct info. on this one. Regards, --Technopat (talk) 18:01, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
One of the problems with at the drop of a hat is the different recordings vary quite a bit. The version I know well is the 1957 mono (50th performance) recording, when the Lord Chamberlain section was rather shorter than it later became. Francis Davey (talk) 00:17, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yep! Thought we'd come up against that. Let's see what others come up with before doing anything drastic (Be bold!). But as I said above, whatever gets done to this article, the corresponding Lord Chamberlain article must be moved. Regards, --Technopat (talk) 00:37, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
