Starbucks are NOT franchised in the US

The mention of Starbucks is advertisment, suggest removal

I do not see what the relevance of having two Starbucks has to the place or the article. Any other opinions on this?

One block, or not

While perhaps more visible, the block adjacent to Broadway is seems not to be the only "block". The new Chase bank branch lists its address as 26 Astor Place, and Cooper Union Engineering Building has been 51 Astor Place since it opened. Astor Place seems to stop existing at Third Avenue.

Eighth Street is the one that disappears, vanishing into Astor place, then morphing into St. Marks Place, before reappearing over on Avenue B on the other side of Tompkins Square Park.

The Alamo

The Alamo has been returned to its place in Astor Place. I don't know if that means that the information about its removal is unnecessary or what, but it should be noted that it is no longer missing.

Sometime lines for tickets for the Shakespeare Festival stretch around Astor Place, so I thought an external link to the Public Theater might be nice.

Astor Place destruction/construction

Astor Place, as we know it, is dead. It's currently under major construction, rendering major points of interest and articles incorrect. "Astor Place as we know it is dead" is opinion, analysis and interpretation, which we don't allow per WP:OR. Get a reliable source (i.e. not a blog) for what the city actually plans to do, and put that in the article (with the source) as what is planned, but do not change what it currently is until it has actually changed. Also, describe the plan, but do not interpret its meaning or impact. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:46, 18 September 2013 (UTC)

Your alarmism is totally uncalled for. The city's official plan shows quite clearly that the Alamo Cube will not be removed, instead the plaza will be expanded southward. Astor Place will stop at Lafayette and not continue to Third Avenue. The sidewalk north of Cooper Union's Foundation building will be expanded, the Astor Place subway plaza will be enhanced and redesigned, Fourth Avenue below 9th Street and the west side of Cooper Square will be converted into bus-only use, and a new plaza will be created on the west side of Cooper Square between 5th and 6th Avenues. These are positive changes which will made Astor Place more pedestrian friendly and less car-oriented. It is not the death of Astor Place "as we know it", it's the refurbishing and improvement to make it better than it was.
