The following was written directly into the article by an IP editor yesterday:

"This is all incorrect.

I played for Aston Villa Ladies team in 1973 this team had already been playing several years with the captain Val Aston, manager Len Harvey, Trainer Geoff Murch, we had a team picture in Harry Parks sports shop on Witton road we trained at Newtown Community center on Tuesday and Friday evenings Tony Weir was our photographer, our home ground was Doe Bank Lane, both Ursula Hynes central defender and Christine Mulvey right back were on the junior England team, and the county Team. A couple of years later Aston villa and blues splintered to form Solihull ladies with players from blues and Aston villa namely, Sandra Ullah, Angie King, Sue Ford, Ursula Hynes and others, so please correct this false information

Sincerely

Dr. Ursula Hynes" Perhaps for clarification you can look at Birmingham City Ladies site and teams they played against. Their primary rival was Villa Ladies. There were articles printed in the Birmingham mail of their matches even when their was an altercation between a blues and villa player resulting in both players being sent off with photographs. It is very sad as a former player to see the whole and complete history for Birmingham City Women's team and yet Nothing for Aston Villa. Like we suddenly started in 1976 or other. You could verify the existence by talking to any of the 1972/73 Blues, Wolverhampton, Leceister,or Stoke players that we played in the Heart of England Team. Had Angela King and Sandra Ullah from Blues and Christine Mulvey and myself from Aston Villa on England Trials when Tommy Tranter was the England Coach. Remember the internet was barely up in those days so any internet searches would be scant. Talk to the people before they all die off and Keep Villa's history correct.

–— The editor is obviously not a regular editor and only has one edit, however it rings true so it would be appreciated if this could be researched and see if there are any reliable sources for the club's existence before 1973.

I have spent some time looking and there are no sources online for an Aston Villa Ladies club existing before 1973 (as Solihull). It seems to me that it's likely there was an unofficial side from the late 1960s onwards that later ended but never one that was a formally registered side or fully affiliated with Aston Villa F.C. until much later. The club's history notes the 1973 foundation of Solihull as the start date which seems suitable based on current evidence. Please note here if you find any evidence to the contrary? I wish I had kept the game and competition brochures to show. I only disposed of them approx one year ago. Talk with Christine Mulvey or Sandra Ullah who are both on face book to verify. The only thing Aston Villa gave to our team were some split leather footballs ( too old for use) and 4 or 5 training shirts. Look up Johnny Giles testimonial game played at the WBA ground they had ATV women playing another team in an exhibition for 15 or 20 minutes before kick off. I was a guest player, surely you could find a programme from that match it would mention the players of the team perhaps 2A02:C7D:69A7:C500:8D3E:E262:C1F6:C61A (talk) 21:50, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Aston villa logo16.png

edit

File:Aston villa logo16.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a non-free use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I am wrong to think that considering this is a woman’s team that the logo should have a lioness on it instead of a male lion? SportsFan007 (talk) 22:02, 27 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
