Taken on the identical submarine as ice station zebra

The film is taken on the identical US-submarine as for the movie "ice station zebra" (1968), namely on submarine No. 509. It seems, that some takes of ice station zebra are used once more for this film, particularly the scene of the diving boat. Even the backdrops of the periscope-room and the torpedo-storage seem to be the same. Furthermore, the stories of both movies are similar, both stories are about a rescue action to help scientists, who are at a point at the end of the world (ice station zebra: the north pole), about espionage during the cold war, a saboteur on board and a traitor in the own team. I know both movies from german TV.
