... So is Asperg really named after the aspergillum that appears on its coat of arms, or (as I'm more inclined to believe) is that depiction part of an effort to sanitize/"whitewash" the toponym's descent from roots meaning something to the effect of "Donkey Mountain" (the P having become "frozen" and survived the change from OHG Perg to MHG and Standarddeutsch Berg)?
