Automatic taxobox

edit

The genus is Asparagus, not Asparagus (genus) (though this is the title of the article). Perhaps an automatic taxobox isn't appropriate for articles where {{DISPLAYTITLE}} is needed, unless this can be remedied to not display "(genus)" in the genus parameter. My eyes must be playing tricks on me - looks fine now. Hamamelis (talk) 13:07, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
No, they weren't. I hadn't seen your comment here, but had been working on Asparagus aethiopicus, saw the error, and fixed it. (Template:Taxonomy/Asparagus needed to have |link=Asparagus (genus)|Asparagus. This is a general rule: where the genus page is at some different title, you need |link=genus-name|page-title.) Aha! I didn't know to look there, as I don't have a grasp of how templates work. Naturally the history of Asparagus (genus) had revealed no clues to me either. Occasionally as pages load for me on my slow system, some strange bit of nonsense will appear momentarily, and then vanish when the page finishes loading. I thought it must have been one of those times (but with an extra-long lag). Next time I'll look for the trouble where you've indicated. Thanks Peter, for helping me understand this a little better :) Hamamelis (talk) 02:40, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
