Father's name: Kanjilal

edit

Father's name is spelled differently on Ashok Kumar's page, as well as his brother Kishore Kumar's page. Chirags 19:55, 16 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Can anybody cite a source

edit

which states that Ashok Kumar studied in Presidency College Calcutta? He went to Calcutta to study law after doing a graduation in Science from Robertson College, Jabalpur. And as far as I know, law was never taught in Presidency College as such. Not only that, he left Calcutta before completing law studies... I found a decent source, though from a secondary source, which is Ashok Kumar's obtituary as published in Independent, London [1] Though I read his autobiography, it is not with me right now and I am not able to find any mention of this book on web.GDibyendu (talk) 15:32, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

This story of Devika Rani eloping with Najm-ul-hussein seems to be a misunderstanding of the plot of Jawani Ki Hawa. :) GDibyendu (talk) 06:43, 1 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bengali

edit

This is an issue with several articles on people or material of Bengali origin on Wikipedia. Ashok Kumar, though Bengali by ethnicity, was a Hindi actor and gained much more fame in Hindi film industry than in Bengali. Unless the actor himself requests so, it is completely unreasonable to not have his name shown in Hindi. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should exhibit objectivity, and not be used by certain elements to advance their egoistic attitude. In the interest of neutrality and authenticity of material exhibited on Wikipedia, I would like to start a debate on this issue.
