I have added the template as I am interested in seeing sources for the quotes. Sources for quotes should always be provided.

Extraterrestrial life? edit

There is some footage of him, along with Carl Sagan and others, in an X-Files episode, in what I guess was a panel of experts discussing the possibility of extraterrestrial life. Someone should research and add the information about this panel in. Sammasa 15:22, 11 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Extreme Views edit

Some extreme views are evident in the Quotations that are not treated in the main text. "The family unit is the institution for the systematic production of mental illness" "The Natural Superiority of Women" He also made a lot of statements about physical aspects of humans (race , creationism) for which he did not have professional qualifications. he had a degree in Anthropology, not in any field of biology or medicine. Bibliographical order edit

Does the bibliography follow any particular order? It appears random. Varlaam (talk) 09:44, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ashley Montagu as an activist against ritual circumcision edit

The Ashley Montagu Resolution refers to the petition to the World Court to end the genital modification and mutilation of children worldwide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Montagu_Resolution 2003:E8:5F0D:F214:1DED:48D0:59B2:882B (talk) 15:30, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

bare bones edit

Aside from his career and publishing, there's almost nothing about the individual once he enters university. Was he married? What did he die of? Where did he live? Was he ever taken to task for gratuitously embellishing his c.v.?

As well, pretty much no mention is made of the reception of his articles and books, even though he was largely popularized in his day, being erudite and quick-witted. Did he favor any particular television program? Was his popularity worldwide, or largely just the United States? How exactly did HUAC lead to his dismissal from Rutgers?

Pity that The Natural Superiority of Women is given such short shrift. It appears to be a significant influence on the resurgence of feminism in the 1960s.

To add to article edit

Basic information to add to this article: why he changed his name, and why he selected "Montague Francis Ashley-Montagu." 173.88.246.138 (talk) 05:15, 1 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Legacy section is cattywampus edit

Good comments here. I'll add mine: The Montagu fellowship at Sydney is described, along with the name of the current? holder of said fellowship. Suddenly we come upon a list of "his" survivors (whose? the holder of the fellowship? Montagu himself, as I believe is meant?) Other survivors after Montagu's (1999) death are then listed, without any mention of his having died, and when, and where! A summary obit should precede the description of the fellowship, which should be in separate, closing section. Inwitinthemidwest (talk) 03:04, 11 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

something odd here edit

He also says profoundly that the "so-called" main divisions of mankind are species instead of races.

well that's what the text has. Perhaps a slip of the pen but . . . — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.220.76.151 (talk) 16:14, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

As I explain in my edit of April 2022 removing this statement (odd indeed), it is not from Montagu. Jaam (talk) 15:31, 27 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
