He invented the idea and partial theoretical basis for the single beam trap configuration know as optical tweezers in 78, it just took till 86 before he built them. Should it say that he invented them in 78 and produced an apparatus in 86? --Andorphin 08:33, 17 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question: Why is his affiliation listed as "Lucent Technologies". This company was a split of Bell Labs, but the company didn't exist until about 5 years after he retired from Bell? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.1.19.1 (talk) 17:37, 2 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit protection request edit

This page is currently suffering from persistent and repeated vandalism. See the history/edit log of the page. -- Roger Hui (talk) 17:36, 4 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Roger Hui - I've put a request at WP:RPP, which is the area where protection is requested. Widr you blocked the IP vandalizing, I think a lot of revisions here need redaction per WP:RD2 Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:45, 4 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wrong photo edit

It's not Ashkin, but Gérard Mourou. Please remove it. --94.79.7.6 (talk) 14:02, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Done ping GreenMeansGo if they'd be willing to rename the file.. Galobtter (pingó mió) 14:12, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Done, also removed all additional erroneous uses on all language projects. GMGtalk 14:22, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I see your IQ is lowered :) Galobtter (pingó mió) 14:48, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Not my fault. I'm told it's unethical to give a toddler ambien. Still looking for alternatives. GMGtalk 14:55, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

World War II service edit

Although Ashkin served in the United States Army during World War II, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served overseas in a war zone during the war. More specifically, the sources do not establish defining role in World War II. Accordingly, "Category:American military personnel of World War II" was removed from the article. Semper Fi!
