Phone call (BLP please) edit

[1] - Yes, Victoria Nuland said over the phone to Geoffrey Pyatt that she likes Arseniy Yatsenyuk (he "is the guy who's got the economic experience" and so on). Nuland and Pyatt agreed to have a conversation with some other people in the future. But is not it something ambassadors always do, i.e. they talk with local politicians and about them? What is significance of this? I do not see this section explaining it at all. Not every phone call belongs to WP pages. My very best wishes (talk) 01:43, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Now, I am looking at a source: [2]. It says: Leaked audio reveals embarrassing U.S. exchange on Ukraine, EU". They discussed Klitschko, Yatseniuk, Oleh Tyahnybok. OK. But I do not see why this info should be included to BLP pages of Klitschko, Yatseniuk, Oleh Tyahnybok. Apparently that was something embarrassing for Nuland and Pyatt? If so, that should belong to their BLP pages. But I doubt that belongs even there. My very best wishes (talk) 01:51, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You may not be very knowledgeable about this, but there are tons of academic sources about this and how what Nuland said then happened. For example this piece by John Mearsheimer (quoted 1467 times): "As a leaked telephone recording revealed, Nuland had advocated regime change and wanted the Ukrainian politician Arseniy Yatsenyuk to become prime minister in the new government, which he did."[3]
More scholar source: "The U.S.-favored candidates included Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the man who would in fact become prime minister once Yanukovych was overthrown. Nuland crowed that “Yats is the guy who’s got the economic experience, the governing experience.”"[4]
Or: "The U.S-favored candidates included Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the man who became prime minister once Yanukovych was ousted from power. During the telephone call, Nuland stated enthusiastically that “Yats is the guy” who would do the best job."[5]
I don't know, if you think censoring Mearsheimer is a wise thing to do... so I restore the content. Mhorg (talk) 07:24, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, she liked Yatsenyuk. But what is significance of this? Every time when power changes in any country or there are elections (Russia, Iran, Bulgaria, whatever) a US ambassador probably likes some candidates and does not like others. Are you saying that Nuland overthrew Yanukovich and put Yatsenuk to his position? Yes, that would be significant, but RS do not say it. This is Russian propaganda. It does not belong to WP pages. My very best wishes (talk) 14:14, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, it isn't Russian propaganda... these are widely held views among academics. Please, at least read the material that is proposed to you. Mhorg (talk) 14:30, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
"No, it isn't Russian propaganda". So, you are saying that Nuland (or US government) put Yatsenuk to his position of prime minister, and that is the meaning of the inserted text? If so, how exactly did they do it? I do not see anything in sources. My very best wishes (talk) 14:46, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
It is what Mearsheimer said, and also other academics. Mhorg (talk) 15:30, 14 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
That source/opinion only say that "the U.S.-favored candidates included Arseniy Yatsenyuk" (no one disputes that), but he does not say that US government placed him to his position, and accordingly, he does not even try to explain how US government did it.
