Talk:Arnaud Balard

use of Blogspot as a resource edit

After careful consideration, I am using a Blogspot site sentendre.blogspot.com as it quotes directly from the subject, adding valuable information about his life. A review of the site shows it is a reliable and irreplaceable resource for information about the international deaf community.

Sign Union flag
  • ... that French deafblind artist Arnaud Balard created the Sign Union flag (pictured) in 2013 to promote the global unity of deaf people? Source: Deaf-Art (site published by the National Technical Institute for the Deaf: "After completing two-year study of vexillology and experimenting with different designs, Balard designed the Sign Union Flag in 2013."

    • Comment: This is my second DYK, thanks in advance for your patience. I believe the image is OK to use based on the Italian Wikipedia discussions linked at the image's Wikimedia Commons page.

  •   Article is new enough, long enough, written neutrally and has no copyvio issues. Citations seem adequate but I questions the reliability of some sources such as a Facebook post and other primary sources. Hook is good, interesting and sourced - not sure if this is an RS but lots of French language sources also cover this so I think this is fine ([1] [2]). Image looks good. QPQ not done but once completed I think it will be good to go. Vladimir.copic (talk) 12:10, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the review @Vladimir.copic: I haven't done QPQ as this is only my second DYK, and the QPQ process states "If you have previously nominated fewer than five articles (whether self-nominated or otherwise), no QPQ is required." I recognize the traditionally unconventional quality of some of the sources used, but believe them to be reliable and that they provide valuable additions to the article.   Then I'm happy with the nomination. @Skvader: I think it is good experience as well as a net positive to the community if you can do a QPQ though. Vladimir.copic (talk) 23:42, 24 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
