Tone tag

edit

Apologies for not explaining the tone tag - I thought it would be obvious why it was needed. A few examples of inappropriate phrases:

  • "recognises the many"
  • "who have given their lives"
  • "helps raise awareness"
  • "invaluable contribution"

Period Covered

edit

To describe the period qualifying entry on the Armed Forces Memorial, "since the Second World War" or "since 1945" (the greater part of which year was covered by the closing months of the Second World War) are too vague and may be misleading to readers who may be about to visit to look up a name. A more definite start date is best mentioned.Cloptonson (talk) 21:33, 14 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Found answer to my own question on the AFM website hosted by Ministry of Defence (Veterans UK) - start date is 1 January 1948, following the 31 December 1947 closing date for commemorations by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, with the exception of those killed in the Palestine campaign that went on post WWII.Cloptonson (talk) 19:57, 15 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
