PTI's Dr Arif Alvi elected 13th President of Pakistan. <ref>https://www.dawn.com/news/1430542/ptis-dr-arif-alvi-elected-13th-president-of-pakistan-unofficial-results<ref> Munibmir91 (talk) 12:11, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Not done: that's not an official result. NiciVampireHeart 12:24, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Children

@Mar4d: I removed the children information that you added because we don't usually namecheck children or relatives unless they're notable - at least by WP standards. On a different note, I was not expecting from a an experience editor like you to cite a non-independent references to a BLP. --Saqib (talk) 15:31, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

@Saqib: See WP:ABOUTSELF: Self-published and questionable sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities, without the self-published source requirement that they be published experts in the field. Independent source is not a requirement in this case. I've no comments regarding the infobox, but if the convention is to exclude it from there, it can be easily mentioned in the body. Mar4d (talk) 15:38, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
OK I wasn't aware of this but in any case, please see WP:NMCHK. This brings to mind we have now three different DoB's. I'm not sure which one to use in the infobox. --Saqib (talk) 19:30, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Oath Taking as President

Arif Alvi will most likely take oath on 10th September as 9th falls on a Sunday, Mamnnoon Hussain's tenure will end on 9th and the chairman senate will serve as acting president from 9th-10th. Jibran1998 (talk) 15:42, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Alvi is Punjabi tribe

Jibran and Saqib alvi is Punjabi tribe more specific to eastern Punjab now in India. You can check alvi Punjabi profiles across Facebook www.facebook.com/public/Alvi-PunjabiStLouis2 (talk) 15:48, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

If there is a proper and reliable reference backing such a claim then no issue in adding it Jibran1998 (talk) 15:50, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

  • Comment: Damn, what is there to fight about Arif Alvi? He is just the president, please chill out, accept what sources say and move on as he is going to enter the president house and come out unscathed after five years! Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 16:23, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Felicitation message

@SheriffIsInTown: Wanted to let you know that I removed the felicitation message Alvi received his Chinese counterpart because I believe it does not passes 10YT. I hope thats okay with you. --Saqib (talk) 08:21, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

@Saqib: Actually, it could have been expanded, there was more in it about Sino-Pak relations. Chinese president himself seldom comes out and says such things about relations with Pakistan so it was more than usual for me. Also, for him to give a detailed message about our figurehead was unusual in itself. I mean who cares about our president. ☺ I should have expanded it but did not have drive to do so! Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 09:49, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
But I did not found anything unusual in that felicitation message. Maybe I'm missing something? And we did not noted those numerous felicitation messages conveyed to Prime Minister Khan so why exception in this case. By the way, I recall Russia's Putin congratulated our outgoing president. --Saqib (talk) 10:05, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Birthday

There seems to be some confusion as to what month he was born in. I have looked for sources and have found both July and August. It would be nice to nail this down. Carptrash (talk) 16:04, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

29 July 1949 is supported by the majority of reliable sources. --Saqib (talk) 16:18, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Okay. I emailed the President's office and hope to get a reply from them. Carptrash (talk) 19:24, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
Would one you be ready to see his passport copy :) i can help resolve this issue once in for all - i dont want the passport copy public but be willing to share it privately so we can close this case :) 19:26, 22 September 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drawab (talkcontribs)
You do not need to upload any such kind of of identification document On-Wiki. @Carptrash: we should avoid using primary sources per WP:BLPPRIMARY. --Saqib (talk) 20:54, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
@Saqib: I doubt very much that President Alvi will be the one who answers me. If anyone does. Carptrash (talk) 23:03, 22 September 2018 (UTC)

One of the most expensive dentist in Pakistan

Should we mention this in his profile. Seems like he is not working for the poor. 45.116.232.28 (talk) 11:21, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Not done: Irrelevant Information, as a private doctor he entitled to charge what he wants, he didn't serve as a dentist as a public servant Jibran1998 (talk) 12:00, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

One of the most expensive dentist in Pakistan. Should we mention this in his profile. Seems like he is not working for the poor. He charges 500 to 1500 rupees just for one appointment. https://www.marham.pk/doctors/karachi/dentist/dr-arif-alvi 45.116.232.24 (talk) 12:32, 4 September 2018 (UTC)

Not a RS. --Saqib (talk) 13:04, 4 September 2018 (UTC)|
@Saqib: according to Alexa Internet, marham.pk is the 1,674th most popular website in Pakistan. https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/marham.pk 45.116.232.24 (talk) 13:11, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Popular does not equal reliable. That aside, your request draws conclusions not given in the source material. See WP:NOR#Using sources: Take care not to go beyond what is expressed in the sources, or to use them in ways inconsistent with the intention of the source, such as using material out of context. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 14:03, 5 September 2018 (UTC)
