Why isn't this page protected? edit

It's pretty clear that some people love messing around with the content on this page, so in my opinion at least, someone should consider protecting this page. If there's a reason against protecting it please let me know. EdgePatrol (talk) 20:33, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

@EdgePatrol:Hello. Page protection against vandalism is used when necessary, but that may not be as often as one might think.
Most vandalism is handled effectively enough by users reverting it one at a time. Page protection is needed when there is a massive attack from dozens of IPs and when blocking each IP becomes pointless because the attacker moves to a different IP address after each edit. Scroll down the revision history of this page to April 30 for an example.
Another situation that requires page protection is when a some event triggers vandalism from multiple individuals across a nation or the world. Again, blocking would be futile. An example of that is this page's revision history, scroll to September 15, right after the poor guy had one of the worst games for an NFL kicker in recent years.
By comparison, the disruption on Arctic hare has been moderate and it seems to have been handled by reverting without too much trouble. Hope this helps. Have a great day! --DB1729 (talk) 23:00, 24 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Not done - I don't have a clue on what part of the article you want to change and you have not said where it has been found and a source must be provided as well. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 15:20, 22 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
