Hostage situation wikinews

edit

On June 21, 2007 a hostage situation occurred at the First Mid-Illinois Bank at the corners of U.S. Route 45 and Illinois Route 133. This event started at 9:45 am with a traffic stop ten miles north of Arcola. A Douglas County deputy was shot in the face and torso.[1]

Moved from main article. This isn't really a news archive page, if something encyclopedic can be found here, I wouldn't object. Though tragic, a death or shooting doesn't seem to have far reaching long term noteworthiness. --Dual Freq 22:57, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I would have to agree. I struggled to see if this should be included or not. Really, this is just one event in the village's history. Even though it is on national news, it really isn't encyclopedic.--Kranar drogin 23:06, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

This article is a good start; while it only technically has a short geography section, a demographics section, and an infobox, it also holds a picture and a lengthy lead that could be broken down into seperate categories, including History and Culture & Media.

What this article needs is:

  • For the lead to be, as previously stated, broken down and rewritten per the lead guideline. The information located here can be allocated into a variety of categories: see the guideline for US Cities to see what can go where.

I rated this a Low-importance article because of its small population and relative anonymity on an international scale.

This article should probably cite its sources more directly

edit

I'm guessing most of the stuff about Raggedy Ann's author, the local Amish culture, etc., came from the websites listed in the "External Links" section, but if they're being used as sources, they should probably be cited and listed as such. I'm noting this here just in case I don't get around to it later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.19.207.30 (talk) 08:00, 17 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
