When 'Limburg' joined the Belgian revolution.
editAdmin Fram might want to refresh his knowledge of Belgian history, as I think he confuses a number of revolutions and popular here. In the meantime, I want to see a source saying that the province of Limburg had a vote on whether or not to join a popular uprising.HP1740-B (talk) 10:40, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Also, I want to see sources which explain how an entire province can be part of an non-existing state for almost 9 years.HP1740-B (talk) 10:41, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Belgium didn't exist between 1830 and 1839? Um, right... Fram (talk) 10:51, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sources Fram, not "Um, yeah right"-s. Also, try to look up state as you go along now.HP1740-B (talk) 10:56, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- The fact that Willem I did not recognise the Belgian state until 1839 doesn't mean that it didn't exist. "On 20 December 1830 The London Conference declared the United Kingdom of the Netherlands dissolved and a month later recognized Belgium's independence." (From Belgian Revolution). As for Limburg, see Limburg#Dissolution: it was an Asterix situation. The whole of the province? No, one city stayed with the Netherlands, namely Maastricht. Fram (talk) 11:04, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Like I said, read the article on what constitutes a 'state'. I haven't got time to reply to these comments of yours which (willfully?) miss my point completely. Like I said on my talk page, less talking more sourcing.HP1740-B (talk) 11:09, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Which of the five kinds of states mentioned in State do you want to discuss. And why? The article doesn't mention "state", it mentions "Belgium", which was an independent country from 1830 on. Fram (talk) 11:12, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not going to feed you any longer. You can either provide sources or continue talking here alone.HP1740-B (talk) 11:17, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Iblardi and I have now provided sources. Fram (talk) 13:24, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually my source said that the majority of the population in Limburg undoubtedly had revolutionary sympathies in the period from 1830 to 1839 during which it was part of Belgium, but that part of the text has now gone. Iblardi (talk) 13:33, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- If you prefer to reinstate your source and the text as it was then, be my guest. Perhaps the fact that it was de facto part of Belgium at the time is more important for this municipality than the sympathies of most people in the province, but it does support the previously challenged text as well of course.Fram (talk) 13:43, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I think that that fact is sufficiently covered by the current source already. Kossmann had the additional advantage of addressing the other point raised above about Limburg voluntarily joining the revolution (which he more or less confirms), but this subject is not so important given the limited scope of this article's content. To stress this fact does seem out of place here. Iblardi (talk) 13:51, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
