AMT and "Ring of Fire" propaganda edit
The PBS Frontline claims about Arcadia Machine and Tool are without foundation and are not supported by any evidence. AMT made expensive stainless steel firearms, quite distinct from the cheap cast zinc framed handguns from Jennings, Raven, etc. AMT's only connection to any of these "Ring of Fire" companies was that it was located in southern California. The majority of its products were quality large-caliber handguns based on the US military M1911 design, and the only handgun it made that bore the slightest resemblance to the "Ring of Fire" companies' products was the .380 ACT "Backup" -- which was made of stainless steel (not zinc), retailed for $350 (many times the price of the Bryco, Jennings, Lorcin, etc) and was marketed to police officers.
The term "Ring of Fire" was a creation of Garen Wintermute, a partisan advocate of gun control, not the ATF. It is a pejorative politicized term that has no place in an encyclopedia. - Additionally, their products, though they "looked cool", were notorious for quality and reliability problems, which is a big part of the reason they went out of business. Even though the Longslide was featured in The Terminator. Poor quality guns aren't just made from Zamac, for example Rohm made many of their larger guns from regular steel. - The"source" is full of crap. "Ring of Fire" was a deliberately pejorative term created by a hyper-partisan gun control activist. A bullshit claim that was NOT supported by any objective evidence is not a valid citation. AMT's reputation is nowhere near as negative as is being claimed: used guns sell for more than their original retail price --- tsake a look on gunbroker.com, etc --- and were thought well-enough of that they continued in production by other companies after the demise of AMT.
