Umm, you can't just delete entire portions of the previous history of Arcadia to fit your right-wing biases. What an a-hole.

Well, Arcadia is still one of the remaining hold-outs of white people and conservatism (along with San Marino and Sierra Madre) in the San Gabriel region.

I don't know who so poorly informed you about Arcadia, but it is roughly 48% white and 47% asian. Sounds like a pretty poor stronghold to me. And I can assure you that Joan of Arcadia has nothing to do with this town. Not only do establishing shots for the television show clearly indicate a river and a moderate skyline (two things not situated within quick distance of Arcadia), but the entire area looks absolutely NOTHING like anything I've ever seen in Southern California. Joan of Arcadia

Does anyone have a specific source for the assertion that the TV show in based on this real place? I've found some that say it is in Maryland,[1][2] as does our own article. Unless we can find one it should either be deleted, or be re-phrased to "contrary to popular opinion..." -Willmcw 23:40, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Just the ones I found in Google. I did a Google search and it was mostly through discussions and blogs that it looked like it was CA. Compare CA with MD.--Jason Gastrich 00:50, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

Though I've only seen the an episode and a half of the show, I don't recall any scenery that looked like SoCal.Unless you have a specific source specifically mentioning California, let's leave it off. The fact that our Wikipedia article calls it MD should be enough. If you want to argue the point, that would be the place to do it. -Willmcw 00:59, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

The DVD release of Joan of Arcadia includes bonus material that reveals the setting as Arcadia, MARYLAND, not California.

I agree that the info on the school is incorrect. I went there in the mid-eighties. I drove past once in, maybe, 1994 and the gates were open. When I went to look around the grounds I was told that it had been closed due to earthquake damage. It was such a beautiful place...I'm glad to see paintings and pieces were salvaged. I'm wondering, though, if there are any photos of the grounds or buildings or artwork? Anyone?? Thanks 204.140.246.254 22:38, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Melissa

Notability

I don't want to be rude people, but if you don't know the Wikipedia guidelines properly yet, please do not edit this page. I don't want to keep reverting back edits regarding Arcadia's 99 ranch market. I realize the fun in building up encyclopedic knowledge of your own town and being able to espose that information onto this site, but it is not the place. There is absolutley no notability in mentioning the exact location of a mundane strip mall, or in giving the street corner location of a 99 ranch market. There is no way to verify, or reason to make note of, the friend-of-a-friend who had a Jack-in-the-Box commercial filmed in their backyard. These are everytown America facts, and are, at best, completely incapable of being properly cited and are therefore original research. Please, please read this before you revert the edits back again.
