Mentioning Caste

Dear Editors!
There has been a discussion on India Portal related to mentioning of caste of subjects. The point is that mentioning caste of people, who have nothing to do with their caste, is found to be unnecessary by few editors. Hence the caste of the subject person needs to be deleted from the biography. I am not deleting the caste as of now but am only posting this here so that the regular editors of this article are well aware of it beforehand and no edit-wars take place. For details of discussion held on the portal please refer Wikipedia_talk:Noticeboard_for_India-related_topics#Mentioning_caste_of_Individuals. Your views if any are welcome there or even here.
And.... as the reasons of exclusion of caste pointed out were "irrelavant to notability of subject person", "privacy of the subject person", "inclusion of caste is like branding individuals", etc. other information included in the article which also fall under these cases will also be removed after discussions. Examples of it included religion, non-notable spouse's and children's and parents' information, previous occupation, lived in places, non-notability related educational qualification, etc.

Orphaned references in Anushka Shetty

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Anushka Shetty's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

The film is directed by Ashok and will have Anushka and Prabhas in the lead. The actress is already shooting for the action-packed Rudhramadevi, the shoot for which will be completed in a few months.

Bikini

In this edit I removed content added by NIKE 01 about the subject wearing a bikini in a film for the first time. I can't see what possible long-term academic value this has. The content seems weird, creepy, and although I'm sure it is not Nike's goal, the content also comes off as misogynistic, because I doubt we'd put male actors under the same microscope. Do we care when Johnny Depp first wore Speedos in a film, or do we only focus on salacious facts like this when there are women involved? It doesn't belong in the article. See WP:RS for what sources are acceptable - basically reputable publications and mainstream news sites with a reputation for good fact-checking are ok; but blogs, IMDB, tabloids, gossip sites, forums etc. are not. Once you've done that they can be assessed to see if the content is reliable and then a decision can be made as to whether or not it is significant enough for inclusion in the article. Removal of copious content of website critics

Hey :@Tigerikkada:, in my edit, I had removed several lines of text which were copied from tabloid websites and film critics commenting about Anushka's physical attributes. The text is in bad taste and does not live up to the standards expected by wikipedia. Especially for the biography of a living person. Examples of my removal included lines like "Their angles and curves provide all the glamour and keep you engrossed...", "Anushka looks ravishing...", "...lusciousness of Anushka..." and more. Do you think such content is respectful of an actress? Do you know of such kind of text in wikipedia articles of Hollywood actresses for example?

Please let me know why you think such kind of content is necessary for the wiki page of this actress.

@Mahesh gandikota: For what it's worth, I tend to agree that some of those quotations feel like gratuitous focus on her body, but for me, that's because there seems to be a lack of context. If the subject were known for being a sex symbol, like a Sunny Leone or Marilyn Monroe, then a certain amount of attention to the subject's physicality could be warranted, but here, we're lacking that information. Some of the wording is confusing, like "lusciousness". Do we mean she's curvy, or that her performance was deep, sultry and "luscious"? The quote "Anushka has a super-toned body and indulges in quite a bit of skin show" but had "nothing much to do" is less gratuitous to me, since it suggests that her presence in the film was superficial and she was underused. There's a mention of Shetty playing a bimbo--was this what she was known for, or was she relegated to this for some reason? I guess what I'm missing as a reader is this background data. If she was known for playing a bimbo, then there should be some context that explains that. If she was used in films primarily for her appearance, that should be explained. Otherwise it sounds to readers like Wikipedians are drooling over her, when that isn't the case. "...has all the assets to that a woman ought to have" feels a bit icky to me. I guess I'd also hope that there were comments about her performances and acting rather than just how she was used as window dressing. It appears Kailash29792 contributed some of this in 2014[1][2] so I am pinging him in case he wants to re-evaluate the content. The number of movies I have watched of this actress is very few, so maybe I am not qualified enough to know the roles she plays. This article oscillates its adulation between her physicality and her `powerful' roles . All the adulatory content mainly stems from tabloid journalism like nowrunning.com ("...has all the assets to that a woman ought to have"), indiaglitz.com ("Their angles and curves provide all the glamour and keep you engrossed. "), idlebrain.com, etc. Let me state for editors unaware of this - Tabloid journalism is not accepted in wikipedia - see here. By removing the content sourced from the tabloid journals, we achieve two goals - achieve wikipedia's standards for the quality of references and reduce the objectification of this actress. If say, The Hindu comments about her physicality, they would more likely provide appropriate context and not write for the purpose of titillation.
