To the surprise of many observers in Venezuela, Latin America and around the world (including the U.S. and Israel), a moderating influence on Chavez's public comments about Jews turned out to be Fidel Castro, who himself had surprised observers by making comments that were even-handed regarding Israel and the Palestinians. Castro reportedly told Chavez to cool it, and while Chavez remained an avowed fan of the Palestinians and other Arab nations as well as a consistent critic of Israel, his public statements were rote in this regard and further controversies on that point did not arise during his final years of rule before he died.--ZiaLater (talk) 07:18, 8 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Implicit bias in the article edit

The article remarks frequently on high levels of Jewish emigration from Venezuela during the Bolivarian Revolution. What it neglects to mention is that white Venezuelans in general have disproportionately left the country because they are generally wealthier and therefore fear the "socialist" government's policies. While genuinely antisemitic incidents, such as the swastika vandalism mentioned later in the article, do merit mentioning, this article should not omit facts in order to create the impression of antisemitism where none exists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.12.68.184 (talk) 01:33, 28 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
