Copyright Violation? edit

The following sentence in the article is taken almost word for word from the source it cites (http://www.nationalhomeless.org/publications/crimreport/report.pdf):

To this end, cities across the country increasingly outlaw activities such as sleeping, eating, sitting, and begging in public spaces, and selectively enforce more neutral laws—such as those prohibiting open containers or loitering—against homeless populations.

Wikipedia Policy states the material that violates copyright should be removed. Can we get a consensus as to what action should be taken here? Plhofmei (talk) 19:03, 21 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

United States - Laws Supporting the Homeless edit

I think it is good that a few policies are shown for different countries, but more could be added to provide a wider range of policy ideas. For example, the Dutch have the Social Support Act - more information can be found at https://lirias.kuleuven.be/bitstream/123456789/391348/2/EJH6_2_Policy1.pdf. Another possible policy to look at the Housing Act in Wales, more info can be found at https://sheltercymru.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Reasonable-Steps.pdf. For the United States section more information could be provided as to what this act actually entails the government, etc. to do. Also, the page cited can no longer be found, so it would be good to try to find another source for this section. RasinaUCSD (talk) 21:05, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

The view is underrepresented. In this section, we can add the changes on anti=homelessness legislation throughout the history in the US. Show the influence of each law through data could be useful too. It will also be useful if one can include other countries to compare with America. For example, countries such as Canada and japan.Wenli zhou (talk) 00:07, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Wenli_ZhouReply

Scotland - Laws Supporting the Homeless edit

In this section parts of the phrases appear to be word for word from the cited source. It may also be good to find another source to go more into depth about the different requirements that Homelessness etc. (Scotland) Act 2003 has. RasinaUCSD (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

United States - Laws Criminalizing Behaviors Engaged in by the Homeless edit

A lot of the information provided in this section is very informative. One thing I would suggest is changing some of the phrasing as it suggests more opinion than fact. Such an example is in the sentence "Although the court's opinion in Jones v. City of Los Angeles (see above) was vacated, the result suggests that criminalizing homelessness may be unconstitutional." when it is stated that the result suggests something in particular. The information in this section come from court record and national report. These are neutral sources. However, bias could exist on the in selecting of the sources. For example, besides of the law cases against homeless, San Diego also has a Homeless court helping homeless men and women with legal issues such as citations. There are certainly some countermeasures that was not mentioned. Bias should be noted here.Wenli zhou (talk) 00:07, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Wenli_ZhouReply

The information is underrepresented, it would be nice to include types of criminalization Measures and some history behind each laws. plus, it would be nice if there is a section about alternative ways to end homelessness.Wenli zhou (talk) 00:08, 29 November 2017 (UTC)Wenli_ZhouReply
