Not done– Frazier won the NYSAC title in March 1968, which counted as the heavyweight championship at the time. Therefore he was still reigning Olympic champion, and world champion. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:14, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict)   Not done Frazier won the Olympic title in 1964 and Foreman won the Olympic title in October 1968
Frazier beat Buster Mathis for the vacant NYSAC World heavyweight title on 1968-03-04 and retained the title against Manuel Ramos on 1968-06-24, both before Foreman's win.
There are, of course, numerous disputes as to which "world title" is the "real" one, but this supports the statement in the article. - Arjayay (talk) 21:19, 2 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

I changed his height to 6'5 who changed it back? klitschko clearly states his height in conan as 6'5 and joshua is same height as klitschko if not taller. stop making up heights out of your ass. w.klitschko also written taller than he is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.163.225.77 (talk) 16:18, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

BoxRec lists Joshua as 6' 6", so it's your task to find something to counter that if you don't agree. And I don't mean anecdotal "evidence" like face-offs—that is making up heights out of your ass. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 17:54, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Page protection edit

Fight night today, I have feeling until then, and even a few days after this page is going to be vandalised a lot.. Protection should be placed on this article for a few days. --Mahussain06 (talk) 14:11, 28 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

I asked for that with another boxing article a while ago, and the folks at WP:RPP said that articles could not be pre-emptively protected. It's not the "ethos" of WP, apparently.. which I call bullshit. Is this an encyclopaedia for constructive editing, or a public soapbox for obvious vandals to roam free? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 15:47, 28 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
That's kind of crap then to be honest. So we have to wait for vandals and then undo many vandal edits before it get's considered for protection?--Mahussain06 (talk) 09:33, 29 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Hello. Apologies if this isn't the right way for an "edit requests" but I truly don't understand the process, so I took the initiative and used "edit source". Regarding Anthony Joshua's Early life and background. I believe there is an error in which I've been trying to solve. Would appreciate further explanation regarding the process. Thank you. --AfEditor641 (talk) 02:17, 11 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Explain to us what the error in the source is. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:09, 13 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Not necessarily an error but for starters, though a primary souce, news articles have never been deemed certified in accuracy of content. Unless the journalist had an interview with parents(which he didn't), the background story on Telegraph is not wholesomely primary or "fact". In addition, being an avid boxing fan and having watched every Anthony Joshua documentary and fight, I have never seen him mention having "Irish ancestry" though I've heard him numerous times uphold his Nigerian heritage aloft, especially during a Sky Sports interview with Theirry Henry, in regards to cuisine and culture, also after the Takam fight as his father arrived, he said "Here is my dad, straight out of Nigeria". Word from himself, his mother and sister state they're Nigerian and his ethnic name proves so itself; these are just a few examples. Now, If we are to maintain a level of accuracy without any hidden agendas or bias, it would make logical sensible to refrain from stating such information when there has yet to be any concrete form of evidence whether verbally or non-verbally in regards to his alleged "Irish"ancestry. With all due respect, I have made numerous edits on wikipedia and this one seems to be the only edit where it's constantly deleted. Care to explain as I have provided sufficient reasoning. Thank you. (Ps:this is my other account!) BoxingKH18 (talk) 21:08, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Well then, that's all you needed to do from the start. I have removed it, based on the way they mention it as a sort of 'tidbit' without expanding upon it. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:59, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, sir, for your co-operation. It has come to my attention that somebody has managed to tamper with his ethnicity yet again, even though the page is semi-protected. Why exclude IBO title? edit

Of recent, a number of boxing articles have been edited and references to IBO title have been deleted from them. Some of them include Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Andy Ruiz Jr. Since a few of these are semi-protected, this needs a section in the talk section.

My question is why remove the reference? The boxers mentioned above won the IBO title and even mentioned them among the list of titles they held. If the IBO title is considered minor (which is worth a debate), it can be stated as being so. In fact, the Joshua article mentions regional titles such as British and Commonwealth, but not the IBO title which was included earlier in the article but cunningly deleted thereafter.

Please provide a reason for deleting the references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.200.228.63 (talk) 12:54, 8 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

The article states that Josha called on black people to boycott white businesses. This is inaccurate as he never stated "white businesses" he said "their businesses" which in the context of the speech clearly meant the businesses of people who perpetuate racism. This was willfully misinterpreted by people looking to push a false native and themselves perpetuate racial division 82.9.180.7 (talk) 12:07, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I would like to add a statement to the third/last paragraph of the opening section of the Anthony Joshua (boxer) Wikipedia Page. The statement I would like to add is 'His knockout-to-win percentage stands at 91%'. This statement is true and I would like to add it to the end of the paragraph, after the sentence - 'His victories include five world heavyweight champions (Charles Martin, Wladimir Klitschko, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and Andy Ruiz Jr.) plus 3 non-titleists who were nonetheless ranked in the global heavyweight top ten by BoxRec within a year of him beating them (Dillian Whyte, Carlos Takam and Dominic Breazeale).' Figures are available for Klitschko and Ruiz - two defining fights. The Parker fight was equally, if not more, important than the Ruiz fight. Makes sense to add the international figures for that aswell Kaizackjohnson (talk) 05:29, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Anthony Joshua is British edit

He is legally a British national

He has represented Britain several times.

He is mostly described as British from sources.

He said that he is "Proud to be british" [1]

Based on all this, the evidence points towards describing him as British has the strongest case.

@Mac Dreamstate would you like to explain why these facts are incorrect? Erzan (talk) 09:28, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

It's not about those viewpoints being incorrect. What's incorrect was your conduct in not starting this talk page discussion when prompted five times. WP:BRD—this is basic stuff. You also reverted more than three times, which again is poor conduct. Please provide something from a major publication (not Twitter) where Joshua identifies as British over English, and your edits are good to stand. Simple as that. Per WP:BURDEN, that's all you had to do. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 12:40, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also read the last bit at WP:UKCHANGE: "Re-labelling nationalities on grounds of consistency—making every UK citizen 'British', or converting each of those labelled 'British' into their constituent nationalities—is strongly discouraged. Such imposed uniformity cannot, in any case, be sustained." It's on you to provide sources when asked. Feel free to do that. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 12:47, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I provided sources. It was erased and I was called a weirdo by yourself which is poor conduct. So I propose it is changed to British. Do you have any objections and can you explain why? Thanks. Erzan (talk) 13:26, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I've restored your edit with the Sky source. But surely you realise calling Joshua a "she" is weird behaviour—just sayin'. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 13:54, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nevertheless calling someone a weirdo in their response to an edit is against the rules and doesn't help resolve the dispute. But since we have reached an agreement I won't go any further. Thank you everyone. Erzan (talk) 04:51, 10 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'd just like to point out that the words "proud to be British" were part of a quoted tweet and not AJ's words. As far as I remember though most sources seem to refer to him as British, but if there was a quote from the man himself specifically saying it then that would trump everything else. – 2.O.Boxing 14:16, 9 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
