Unwashed fruits and veggies
editThere is a part about the importance of washing fruits and vegetables, but there is no source explaining why this is necessary to avoid the infection. Besides, I can't see the parallels of risk between eating raw slugs/snails and not washing or cooking a bell pepper for supper. NowIsntItTime(chats)(doings) 05:28, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
- Hello, the issue is that small slugs and snails, live or dead, can be present on unwashed produce and transmit the pathogenic larvae if the produce is consumed raw. There is some concern about transmission through residual mollusk slime, which was not believed to be a major transmission route,[A 1] although recent research indicates that stressed snails with the parasite can release considerable amounts of larvae into their slime.[A 2]
