Tino/Tina

edit

Hello @Borgenland, things are getting a little out of hand, as you insist on reverting to the way you think the article should be written, despite being in contravention of Wikipedia policy on edit warring, and despite that fact that I've explained that "effeminate" is derogatory and thus not an appropriate adjective to describe Tino/Tina. This is the place for us to hash out how to improve the article, not by reverting each other back and forth. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:48, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Apologies. It’s the first time I have to deal with a situation like this and now I’m even confused what the character should be called now. Have you seen a copy of the film though? Borgenland (talk) 02:51, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No problem, thank you for explaining. I haven't seen the film, no. Is Tino/Tina transgender? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:23, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, in our place, most people associate transgender with drag. So I used the words gay/effeminate since as I mentioned in the history, he/she wears makeup and a scarf but looks nothing more outlandish. The males call him Tino while she and lead actress calls herself Tina. Here's a YT link to the full movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwGfVLh60ww for reference. The character starts appearing at 10:30 Borgenland (talk) 09:04, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what you mean by "in our place". Are you referring to the Philippines?
I don't actually want to watch the movie, but I'm sure we can figure this out. As far as you can tell, is the character trans or simply a cross-dresser? Is this even made clear on the show?
Regardless, I think it's unimportant to mention their "effeminacy" in the plot section; a description in the cast and characters section should be sufficient. What do you think? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 14:11, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
1.Yes.
2. Well, she does refer to herself as Tina and speaks in a “feminine” high-pitched voice, uses local gay lingo and wears some female accessories but does not appear to have taken physical/medical procedures to transition to another gender. She also sports a male hairdo.
3. Personally, I think it would be redundant duplicating characters descriptions which are already in the plot into the cast list.

Hopefully you're sufficiently well informed to know that transgender people and cross-dressers are two very different phenomena, and I don't see any reason to conflate the two in this article, regardless of how Filipinos perceive the matter.
The cast and character section is precisely intended for the purpose of describing characters in the way we are discussing, whereas the plot section isn't. Please see here: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Television#Cast and characters information. Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 16:12, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your recommendations. As such, I'm now leaving to you the final edits regarding the matter. Again, I apologize for needlessly dragging on the affair. Borgenland (talk) 17:07, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Borgenland, there's no need to apologize—this is what the talk page is for. As for the character description, I'm not going to do it, as I haven't seen the show. Would you like to go ahead and include brief descriptions of each character, since you've watched it? Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 02:35, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I’ll try. Tho I have a tendency sometimes to be a bit kilometric with some lines. Borgenland (talk) 03:18, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Haha, "kilometric"; I like it. Don't worry, I'll be right here, breathing down your neck 🤣🤣🤣 Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 03:23, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Done. Also expanded the list with cameos from notable actors. The producer (also the lead actor) liked to insert a lot of cameos in his movies. Borgenland (talk) 04:40, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nice, I just saw that. Thank you for your effort! Revirvlkodlaku (talk) 04:43, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Supporting"

edit

The cast in the "supporting" list are actually guest stars, as indicated in the film's opening credits. All of them in the list appeared in only 1 scene each (save the case for Randy and Janno, who both appeared in a scene where they back FPJ in serenading AJ), except for German Moreno, who appeared in a couple of scenes.
