Team Green vs. Andretti Green Racing

edit

I think this should be split into 2 articles: Team Green and Andretti Green Racing. A lot changed when Andretti purchased the majority interest in Team Green. Royalbroil 01:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree. The article is very focused on the team as it has existed since the Andretti purchase and the IRL move. The ALMS section also requires updating and expansion, I'll work on that part soon. Lmj81 (talk) 19:50, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Team Green vs. Andretti Green Racing vs. Andretti Autosport

edit

I don't know what the policies are, but should we as a Wikipedia community refer to all Team Green and Andretti Green Racing instances as Andretti Autosport? Should we create three separate articles on each era of the team? I don't know what anyone else thinks, but I believe referring to the Team Green years in articles as Andretti Autosport seems a bit off for me. Manningmbd 16:02, 4 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

I think the article is named correctly (after the current usage). The name used in a particular article should reflect the name used at the time in the article. For example, an article about a driver from the Team Green era should use the pipe trick [[Andretti Autosport|Team Green]] to refer to the team. Drivers/owners who transitioned between the eras should have the team name change discussed in the text of the article. This way keeps everything clean for the reader. Proposed Split

edit

I propose splitting the Formula 1 bid into its own article and expanding it. I'm happy to go about doing that work myself later today, but beforehand I was wondering if this would have general approval? If not I will create it as a draft and then propose it JM12624 11:02, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it needs to be split at this time, but an expansion would nonetheless be a good thing. Can always discuss splitting later if people feel it's too long. ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  12:40, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree it needs more info to justify a split, but it feels very tangential to the main article and I think the current section is both well sourced but also lacking in detail. If I can present a version that is more heavy I'll come back to this. Just feels a lot like FISA–FOCA war for example if we can get it expanded upon enough to justify the split. Although Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile and Formula One Constructors' Association are stubs.
If you'd like I'll tag you when I have developed it out more for your opinion. JM12624 12:57, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
If what you're writing is primarily about the drama between Andretti and FOM, then I don't think you need consensus for a split here at all, and can just make a new article with a title such as "Andretti Global attempts to enter Formula 1" or something similar, since this would certainly pass GNG as a standalone article. ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  14:28, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
