Proposal: Remove COI tag edit

A "conflict of interest" tag was added to this article about four years ago, after an edit by an editor that appears to be the subject. That editor later made a second edit.

Adding the "content of interest" tag was appropriate: Such edits are discouraged by Wikipedia policy, and drawing attention to a possible conflict of interest facilitates review.

Reviewing the edits in question, it appears that their scope was limited to:

  • Adding an additional book that the author published
  • Retranslating the title of one of the author's books
  • Adding details about the translation of two titles into French

The first and third item are the addition of notable facts worthy of inclusion in the biography of an author. The second item was a correction, where a translated title was replaced with another translation. Given that the amended title is the one used by the published English translation, this edit is justifiable.

Given that the substance of these edits do not appear to violate Wikipedia's policies, I'd like to propose removing the conflict of interest tag, without prejudice to reintroducing it in the future if justified.

The editor who added the COI tag withdrew it, but recommends, sensibly, that additional sources be added to this article. -- Shunpiker (talk) 17:10, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
