This article is of world-wide interest. I am surprised it has not yet appeared on Wikipedia's site. I am trying to get started - is there anyone there who can help me? Swampmom54 (talk) 12:17, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Swampmom54:, thanks for creating the page. I dont think it is likely that it will be deleted, now that it's reliably sourced. There are several pages about far less notable animals. It's not that surprising Andre had no page, as he died in 1986 well before Wikipedia started. I once found that a very notable Australian Olympic swimmer, who then acted, wrote successful books, then radio and TV presenting had no page. It happens! (right now I can't recall her name!) Found it, Lisa Forrest. I started writing a page on her, but someone else noticed she was missing too and beat me to creating the page, though I expanded it a lot. 220 of Borg 03:07, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I had already added some sources, quite easy to find too, before I saw your post here. However you should have 1) provided sources at the start, and 2) Wikipedia is not a reliable source, so I have 'stuck through' that line. I added the same sources to Andre (film) too, as that needed more. (See here) If you have the titles or ISBNs of any more books about Andre, please list them as so far I have only found the book by his 'owner'. --220 of Borg 02:49, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Andre" (May 16, 1961 - July 1986) was a male harbor seal pup found off the island of Robinson's Rock in Penobscot Bay and adopted by Harry Goodridge, former tree surgeon and Harbormaster of Rockport, Maine. Harry raised the pup, hoping the seal would become his scuba diving companion, and expecting that the seal would eventually return to the wild when given the opportunity. Instead, Andre chose to stay with Harry in Rockport until his death in 1986. The multi-faceted story that developed over the course of their 25-year bond has been well-documented in hundreds of news articles, several books, feature film, and documentary.
