Policy etc

Among Rep. Carson’s top 5 campaign contributors in 2009-2010 was the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co again.

Rep. Carson earned a “0” from the Consumer Alliance for Energy Security.

Rep. Carson earned a “0” from the National Tax Limitation Committee.

Rep. Carson earned a “0” from the Center for Security Policy.

The following are just some regressive policy actions taken by Rep. Carson during the 111th Congress:

H.R. 310

H.R. 310, passed by the House of Representatives on September 8, 2009, is regressive in many senses. Environmentally, it hands over a public lands to an organization that seeks to develop them for its own private uses. The bill assaults the separation of church and state by doing special favors for an organization that discriminates against non-religious Americans, refusing them employment and membership. The bill is also a blow against equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans, because the organization discriminates in hiring and membership against them as well. Finally, the bill is an insult to Native Americans, giving over public lands so that they can be used in the mock rituals of an organization that encourages young boys to dress up in cartoonish versions of Native American costumes and pretend to be Indians.

The discriminatory organization this bill was designed to assist: The Boy Scouts of America, which seems to believe that it can attack the civic values of equality and respect for diversity, and still claim that any politician who dares protest is unpatriotic. Only seven members of the House of Representatives had the courage not to vote for this bill to coddle discrimination, and they only had the courage to vote "present".

Representative Carson voted YES to pass this regressive measure. ________________________________________

Motion to Concur on Patriot Act

On February 25, 2010, the House of Representatives passed an extension of Patriot Act provisions for spying on Americans without establishment of probable cause or so much as a demonstration that the person being spied upon is even tangentially connected to terrorism. This reauthorization of the most controversial of Patriot Act powers made it through the House hidden within Medicare legislations and contained no reforms whatsoever.

Representative Carson voted YES to pass this regressive measure. ________________________________________

Pingree Amendment to H.R. 5136

It's hard to think of a better example of military waste: Spending billions of dollars for two separate manufacturing systems in two separate companies to make two versions of an engine, with identical performance, for the same airplane – the F-35, an airplane that only requires one engine in the first place. Yet that's just what the House of Representatives voted in favor of on May 27, 2010. Representative Chellie Pingree of Maine introduced an amendment to cut funding for the second redundant F-35 engine, but a majority of contractor-funded legislators voted the Pingree Amendment down. A yes vote is a vote to cut military pork spending. A no vote is a vote to preserve the pork.

Representative Carson voted AGAINST this progressive measure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edebgvbd (talkcontribs) 17:20, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Some things need to be cleared up with the definitions of certain political theory that is used…to better educate it must be mentioned that “Progressive” is basically another word for Neo-Marxist (Koehane)…also it must be mentioned, for fairness and to educate, that the “Green Movement” around the world believes in eugenics, or population control (DeMars), all sides of a controversial political figure must be addressed…this is not a true scholarly article and should be worked on…more of a cheerleading piece…if I am wrong prove it with citing…Brook…BA,MS,PhD Candidate Political Science…. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.138.74.36 (talk) 20:46, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

There is nothing in this article about how Andre Carson is a former gang member, who finished 88 out of 89 in his class the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. I don't have the references handy, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find for anyone else interested. Heatsketch (talk) 01:17, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Is this "gang" the "Five Percenters"? If so, it is not a "gang" in the criminal sense. It is more of a skin color based temple.Gabrielsutherland (talk) 14:56, 13 April 2010 (UTC)
I find a number of comments online stating these as fact, but no reliable citations (the only citation at all was one pointing to your comment). Indiana Law Enforcement Academy doesn't seem to have any class rankings available online. Any chance you've got some sort of source? Starfallen 15:59, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for the mess

Initially I couldn't find a reliable source re: Carson's conversion to Islam, and I reverted a bunch of stuff, and then I found one. Oops. I think I cleaned it all back up, but feel free to jump in and fix. Arbor8 (talk) 18:41, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
