It's difficult to write about McElroy's fiction. Plot summaries sort of miss the point! I am not trying to create some interpretive essay, but it's hard to tell what's objective reporting and unacceptable opinionating.
For example, as a reader, I recall the main tension towards the end: is Cy going to commit suicide, out the window, to end the second half, leaving his manuscript behind? After all, a very big deal is made of suicide in the novel, along with Dom's notorious staged defenestration from a 9th floor the previous year, so if Cy hides out by the window a second time, why not? I mean, although Cy doesn't make a big deal about it, surely he's concerned about his confessions of mail theft.
And since there's not too much critical literature on JM, it's hard to cite some third person's opinions.
Suggestions?
GNG tag commented out
editSince the AfD was about notability, I've commented out the GNG tag. In a week or two I'll delete it.Choor monster (talk) 20:48, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
