Wish I Had The Source... edit

But in the talk page original research isn't allowed anyway if I remember my wikipedia rules right. I need to point something out about the rules; in ancient Greek Boxing, excessive backpedaling (e.g. being a coward) was punishable by execution. Please look this up yourself in a College or University library. Circling and keeping your distance were allowed, if I recall correctly, but not excessive "running."

In the "Origins" section there is a passage that reads "In time, the boxers began to fight while standing and wearing gloves (with spikes) and wrappings on their arms below the elbows, but otherwise they fought naked."

It is my understanding that perhaps some form of spiked glove existed as a weapon... but certainly was not used in competitive boxing. There is no citation provided, and I think that the "(with spikes)" portion of that sentence should be removed.
