Flavius Anastasius (Roman Consul)Flavius Anastasius Paulus Probus Sabinianus Pompeius — Yes. The name is long but the current name is inappropriate, given Flavius Anastasius is also the name of the emperor Anastasius I who was a three time consul themselves. I welcome any other naming suggestions that the community might have. —Labattblueboy (talk) 19:00, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think this misses the point of disambiguation. We are never going to call the Emperor Anastasius Flavius Anastasius, because sources are unlikely to; so there is no real conflict. If I read his article correctly, he was not consul before he was emperor - so no source is likely to refer to him as Consul (any more than they are likely to call him perpetual tribune or pater patriae). Please take notice that the link Flavius Anastasius actually redirects to the emperor to there is an issue. Secondly, I'm working with WP:COMMONNAME and for often than not Flavius Anastasius gets attached to the emperor. All the source for the consul use the full name, which I dislike because it long, it is however better than the current arrangement. Would you have another naming suggestion, I'll all ears.--Labattblueboy (talk) 02:57, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think that redirect was unwise (however it came to be); observe that the only link to Flavius Anastasius is from this talk page. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 19:13, 15 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
A look thought Anastasius shows a large number of people sharing the name. This is just an endeavour to utilize text instead of a qualified to disambiguate.--Labattblueboy (talk) 21:53, 20 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
