Talk:Anabasis (Xenophon)

Map edit

The map shows the Persian Empire in the borders as of 490 BC (as indicated in the map). This is quite confusing, since the borders are quite different from those in 401 BC (year of the anabasis). Egypt and Eastern Thrace were not a part of Persia in 401. Perhaps someone could draw the anabasis route into a more appropriate map? --78.54.20.62 (talk) 19:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Delphi edit

"Socrates makes a cameo appearance when Xenophon asks whether he ought to accompany the expedition." Technically, Xenophon asks "how he might best perform the journey?" ratehr than whether he should go or stay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.113.147.53 (talk) 04:09, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Journey to the Center of the Earth edit

This does contain the phrase "Thalatta! thalatta!" the sea! the sea!", but only in one of the English translations (the line was inserted by the translator, along with a reference to Euclid, a bit of casual racism and some creationism). So it says in the note at the start: [1]  Card Zero  (talk) 02:28, 30 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Areas of Improvement? edit

Hello fellow classicists, historians, and enthusiasts! For my class I will be editing and improving upon this page. Are there any areas you folks who have been around awhile would like to see bolstered? I may be able to get my hands on sources not otherwise easily accessible. Thank you! --Geisslp (talk) 19:22, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
