Authorship edit

I just removed a phrase saying Shamela is "believed to have been written" by Fielding. I've never encountered any controversy surrounding the authorship of this book.--Ibis3 23:04, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's kind of ridiculous to say that the publisher of Shamela is "California University Press (US) & Cambridge University Press (UK)." The book is published today by many different publishers, another one being Oxford UP. Surely if this field should be filled in at all in the infobox, it should list the original publisher, which, according to the original 1741 title-page printed on p. 305 of the Oxford World's Classics edition, was one "A. Dodd" of London. However, someone who actually knows the publication history should validate this. One reason to be skeptical is that the title page also credits the book to "Mr. Conny Keyber." That would be because the book was published pseudonymously. I'm not quite sure this is a reason for skepticism. Schissel | Sound the Note! 09:59, 2 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
