undisclosed paid tag

edit

@Bilby I am the subject of this article and would like to clarify that I have not compensated anyone for editing the page. However, a person I know has made minor factual updates to the content. Could you please review the changes and consider removing the tag? You are welcome to remove any information that does not meet Wikipedia’s standards, but I request that the factual details be retained. http://amoghavarsha.com (talk) 11:31, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

(Disclosure: I suggested Amoghavarsha to comment here through a mutual friend). I have replaced the paid advert tag with an advert tag that I feel is fairer. It was previously in the article but removed by @Saishree0007.
@Amoghavarsha Please do not remove maintenance tags. Don't give website links in your signature either. -- Raziman T V (talk) 11:42, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
My problem is that I have been made aware of two job ads on Upwork. One was to remove the advert tag on this article, which was ultimately done by User:Saishree0007. The other was to remove the paid editing tag from the article which was done by an IP. Both occured after the ads were placed. Given that a quick look at the history shows editing by known paid editors and single-purpose accounts, it seems very possible that the article was edited by undisclosed paid editors. So having the tag in place so that an independent editor can check things makes sense to me. - Bilby (talk) 12:56, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
many agencies get involved when our films release. no way of tracking whos done this or put a gig to put the film in etc. for that to poorly reflect on the page is collateral damage. In all fairness I understand the language/tone may have been an issue. but the factualness can be double checked. http://amoghavarsha.com (talk) 13:04, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Be that as it may, the specific wording of the advertisements were:
"Objective: Permanently remove the "advertisement-like content" tag from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amoghavarsha_JS and ensure the page complies with Wikipedia’s guidelines."
followed by a second ad which read
"Clean up the Wikipedia page for Amoghavarsha JS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amoghavarsha_JS) to remove the tag stating, "This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use." Ensure the page complies fully with Wikipedia's guidelines, maintaining a neutral point of view."
That doesn't leave much doubt regarding what page was to be edited or what was being requested. As a general rule, if an editor is being hired to remove tags, it is not unreasonable to assume that paid editors were also hired in the past. - Bilby (talk) 13:11, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
