Talk:American Mustache Institute

Right, okay, good start. However:

  • No headers like "What is the AMI". The article should tell us what it is by stating: "The American Mustache Institute is..." Use that first sentence to tell the readers what it is, and keep in mind the neutral tone.
  • Do not embed external links in the text. Necessary external links can go at the bottom, under a section entitled "External links".
  • Those five sources are excellent, but the sources are there for a purpose -- to verify a claim. You need to say what event has been documented by one of the papers, and then cite it using the {{cite web}} template. Copy the code and fill in the parameters. Delete any unused parameters (coauthors etc).
  • Write with the past tense where possible, and distance yourself from the text as much as you can. For example, instead of saying: "AMI continues its efforts of building a global community to help revive the mustache and will continue to hold its marquee 'Stache Bash event each year in St. Louis (scheduled for October 25, 2008).", say "AMI currently holds a marquee each year in St Louis". Or something along those lines.
  • Format headers with the ==Header title==, formatted thus. Refrain from use of capitalisation.

Let me know when you've addressed those points and I'll take a look back. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 18:45, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • someone had inaccurately changed the name of the founder of AMI. This has been remedied. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aperlut (talkcontribs) 20:49, 3 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

After looking at their website, I would be shocked if the AMI was not a parody site. Example quote: "Mustached Americans first came to the United States in chains to serve as gunsmiths, shoemakers, midget impersonators, and cattle ejaculators. But in the early 1800s, a sea change of acceptance and stature began for people of Mustached American heritage which would last until 1944, and during that period, the U.S. embraced the sexually adventuresome, round-house kick to the face, Panda bear steak eating Mustached American way of life." 68.42.243.198 (talk) 20:20, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
