Not the CPU maker edit

There are very few Google Books hits for "American Micro Devices" - and most of them really mean "Advanced Micro Devices". If it weren't for the photo of the stock certificate offered on a collector site, I'd have no evidence the company even existed. This is a very perishable reference because once the certificate is sold, it will likely not be listed on the site. Does anyone know anything about this 1964-1991 company? --Wtshymanski (talk) 17:36, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Something screwey going on here edit

American Micro Devices (according to the article) went out of business by 1988 (with no trace after 1980). It went out of business again in 1991. In spite of this it was fighting law suits two years later and by 1999 was "Intel's leading competitor in the chip-manufacturing field". Or could it be that the article authors have ignored the advice at the head of the article "Not to be confused with Advanced Micro Devices". That the references supplied fail to support the article doesn't help. 81.129.194.138 (talk) 13:25, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Since the entire '1990s' section was unsupported by any of the references provided, I have removed it. It pretty obviously referred to 'Advanced Micro Devices' anyway. 81.129.194.138 (talk) 13:56, 23 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
